Why might your physician refer you for neuropsychological assessment?

What is a Psychometrist?

Dr. Sheppard's specialty focuses on brain/behavior relationships. A clinical neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with expertise in how behavior and thinking skills are related to brain systems and structures. Dr. Sheppard conducts comprehensive testing of intellectual capacity, executive skills, attention and concentration, learning and memory, language functioning, visual-spatial skills, motor and sensory functions, and mood/personality. The evaluation helps to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as to assist in making an accurate diagnosis of various conditions. Dr. Sheppard then makes recommendations for treatment, environmental adaptations, school modifications, and other needs, as indicated.

Dr. Sheppard is Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and one of only a few such practitioners in  Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota who have attained this level of certification. The rigorous process for certification includes training/credentialing verification, written examination, peer review of work samples, and oral examination.
